Temple Closed December 23rd Until Jan 2021.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
All glories to the devotees!
Due to the increased spread of the coronavirus during this pandemic, we will close the temple from Wednesday, December 23rd until January 31, 2021.
We have a few members in our congregations who have been infected with covid -19 and it is spreading rapidly in Atlanta. Out of concern for the health of our congregation, the ashram devotees, and the people of Atlanta, we will not allow anyone to enter the temple room.
From what we have understood about those who have caught the virus, they got it from people they know (relatives, friends, etc) not from strangers. In the company of those we share our lives with, we let down our guard and that is when we get sick.
So, we do not want the temple to be a place where the virus is spread.
Many devotees come for darshan and do not follow our guidelines. They offer obeisances on the floor, they stay longer than we have requested, and they enter the pujari area. Therefore, we have taken this extreme step of closing the temple until January 31st.
We will evaluate the situation at that time and decide if the temple should remain closed.
Here is the latest announcement from the City of Atlanta
“Metro Atlanta, and all of Georgia, remain under a Public Health State of Emergency through Jan. 8, 2020. Residents are encouraged to remain home, but if they go out in public they should wear masks. Georgia has done more than 5 million COVID-19 tests. There have been 518,902 cases and there is currently a 9.7% positive rate. The rolling 7-day average of new cases is 5,006. The rolling 7-day average is 13.8% positive.”
10% of the population has or had covid -19. For every 10 people you meet, one of them has covid. Please wear a mask if you go out into the public, don’t visit other homes or have home parties, and wash and sanitizer your hands frequently.
